Ne vous fiez pas à son bon sourire, ce jeune homme est un "méchant" : c'est un City Ranger et c'est lui qui vous mettra un PV si vous êtes mal garé ! L'équivalent de nos pervenches ou de nos aubergines en quelque sorte... Moralité : ne pas confondre les rangers des villes et les rangers des parcs nationaux qui, eux, sont là pour protéger l'environnement !

Wedding

Yesterday, 5 pm, on the jetty at Long Jetty. The weather was balmy, calm, beautiful - perfect day for a wedding. Do you remember your own wedding photos? Or if you're not married, how do you imagine them? For girls who are interested, the 'in' wedding gown here in Sydney has to be of the strapless bustier type. And planning for the 'big day' seems phenomenally important - more so than selecting the spouse or working on the marriage, say some.

BTW - today is the second round of the French presidential elections. The French will decide who they will be married to for the next five years... For us in Sydney, the result will be announced at 4 am on Monday.

Hier soir, 17h, sur le ponton de Long Jetty. Le temps était tiède, calme, magnifique. Journée parfaite pour un mariage. Vous souvenez-vous de vos propres photos de mariage ? Ou si vous n'êtes pas marié(e), comment les imaginez-vous ? Pour les filles que ça intéresse, la robe de mariée à la mode ici en Australie c'est la robe bustier sans bretelles, et la préparation du grand jour semble un sujet phénoménalement important. Plus que le choix du partenaire et l'effort pour réussir son mariage au long cours, disent les mauvaises langues.
PS - aujourd'hui, deuxième tour des élections présidentielles : les français vont choisir avec qui ils seront mariés pendant les cinq prochaines années. Pour nous à Sydney, les résultats tomberont lundi à 4h du matin.

Chalk the walk

For four days 21 to 24 September, about three dozen artists are letting their talents loose on the pavement of Pyrmont Bridge.Two days into the exercise, few are even near completion of their work. Gold coin donations are welcome but it's mostly a labour of love. Visitors can cast their vote for the People's Choice Award. This work wasn't necessarily my favourite but I like the artist's posture and hat. Chalk the Walk, Pyrmont Bridge, until this Sunday.
