Sydney reds, many plus one !

What is red in Sydney? The logos of the Sun Herald, Streets ice-cream, Opera Australia and the blood bank's Red Cross. The firemen's truck, the maple leaves in autumn and the row boats available for rent on Lane Cove river. Red again are several murals I found along my many walks around the city, and this ad for the monorail - gateway to Chinatown. Red and blue is the beautiful Crimson Rosella often seen in Sydney's suburbs...

/ And as a bonus photo, red is this free spirit escaping from its cage...

Et en bonus, rouge est cet oiseau libre qui s'échappe de sa cage... Evidemment on pense à Pierre Perret : Ouvrez, ouvrez la cage aux oiseaux, Regardez-les s'envoler, c'est beau...

I just clicked over from your "free Tibet" comment and I get free spirit--it is wonderful I must say!

Bonjour! First time commenting on your blog. BTW yours is an amazing and fun-filled site. This free spirit seems to be escaping from a net (the fencing) and the bird looks mighty determined. :-) As a segway, I guess it does echo the Dalai Lama's message. I've enjoyed your previous photos too and am amazed at the amount of flooding around the globe. We in the States...Texas and the midwestern states...have really gotten hit badly this year by precipitation. Cheers to you down under and hope you stay dry!

I'm back again; you threw me a bit by rearranging the site from yesterday. The collage, needless to say, is quite bright and colourful. I also like your avatar which fits into the theme quite beautifully!!

Hi Nathalie,
Yours is the first from Australia that has been up so far (usually you all post way before me). I had to laugh when your page came up. Great minds apparently think alike, and I did the same thing you did. Just too many to chose from (I had 45 contenders and narrowed it down to 13). I love your composition and each image is wonderful in and of itself, giving a big red flavor of Sydney. Really nice "bonus" shot, too! Kudos!

I love Streets!
By the way, in Asia, we call it Walls, but with the same heart logo :-)

Happy Theme Day Natalie!

I'm quite distraught, Nathalie, to find in your link that the mountain lory/crimson BREASTED rosella of my youth is now simply a crimson rosella. Worse still, those other two species have (in the eyes of the majority at least) become mere sub-species. Clearly old age hasn't himproved my grasp of birds as much as I'd have wished.
