What is this guy up to? No prize for guessing, you've seen the same thing in your city too I'm sure. But I enjoyed catching the team in action and when the men saw me taking a picture, they very kindly waved and smiled as the crane was moving up! The Christmas tree on Martin Place is a pretty impressive affair that stands 20 metres tall. But look at the nearby trees bearing a bright green foliage! Coming from Europe, I still haven't quite adjusted to Christmas rhyming with summer...
C'est quoi les travaux, là ? Facile à deviner, voyez les étoiles dans la nacelle ! Vous avez sûrement vu la même chose dans votre ville, mais j'ai trouvé sympa de saisir l'équipe de montage en pleine action. Les hommes m'ont souri et fait un grand signe quand ils m'ont vu photographier la nacelle qui montait. Avec ses vingt mètres de haut, le sapin de Noel de Martin Place est imposant. Mais regardez le feuillage vert brillant des arbres à côté ! J'ai toujours un peu du mal à m'habituer à ce Noël des mers du sud qui rime avec été...

Nathalie, you have to manage catching Santa Claus on the beach on the 24th. Sooo out of place!

That tree looks HUGE. Yes we put one up at the county courthouse every year. I've never been there to photograph it though. Nice catch.
Yea, a hot Christmas day would be rather unusual for me as well. It has been rather mild in Delta as of late, but my wife & I drove 30 minutes to the top of Grand mesa today, and the roads were snow packed. I even got to practice parking break induced doughnuts in my Saturn. I have been driving for many years, but still can’t resist an empty snow covered parking lot!

I'm so disappointed in this year Auckland Christmas decoration :(
I had a hard time at Christmas when I lived in Pasadena, CA, too, all those yard decorations and no snow. This is a great shot! I love watching workers working. We have a parking ramp being built next to my workplace, and every day I walk by the workers - for almost 2 years! You sort of get to know one another. I've taken their pic a few times too.
Mais mon éclair de lucidité est là, heureusement : l'étoile de Noël est dans ton coeur Nathalie, à toutes les saisons.
Bon, d'accord, j'arrête l'apéro les jours de semaine.

La plage au mois de décembre ça me dit bien
yeah, no workers wearing shorts here and the decorations aren't as nice. but that doesn't dampen the christmas spirit :)
I had the same problem here, in Fl (will post some absurd photos of Santas in the Palm trees soon) and for the first few Christmases sprayed our windows with "snow" paint. Hard to get into the the holiday spirit...

J'ai habité en cote d'ivoire et c'est vrai que noël fait mauvais ménage avec l'été
En cote d'ivoire on avait des arbres, les filaos, qui ressemblaient de loin à des sapins
Et aussi ce que j'aime à l'approche de noël ce sont les jours courts qui font apprécier les illuminations des vitrines et des rues
Je trouve par contre qu'on ne devrait commencer à décorer que début décembre car après on se lasse de ces décorations et on est tentés de les enlever très vite après noël
C'est l'aspect commercial de Noël !
