From my balcony

June 1st Theme Day is View from your bedroom. I took this photo from my balcony on the fifth floor a few months ago. There had been a huge storm all afternoon with deep black skies and driving rain but just before the end of the day the sun pulled out of nowhere and striked an incredible flash of gold - I grabbed my camera and rushed out to the balcony, bingo ! This building, a 4 star hotel - the Four Points by Sheraton Darling Harbour - is usually a sparkling white but on that day it turned to gold! Neither contrast or saturation were pushed on this photo, it's all nature's work.
PS - Can you spot my magic wand in the scenery?

L'immeuble voisin, normalement d'un blanc éblouissant, a tourné à l'or pendant quelques minutes.

Well it is something to see out your bedroom window. I just can't imagine a scene like that. I would rub my eyes and go back to sleep but this time to wake up.

I also forget that due to your location in the world it is already tomorrow today.

Nice photograph to be sure.

While I am here I would like to thank you for all of the times you have visited my blog. Sometimes I do not get around to say thanks but I hope you understand that it is a given that I am grateful for your visits and comments. Thank you.

Spectacular shot Nathalie. I guess we have to leave it in colour because of the sunlight, but nevertheless....

Beautiful! Looks like a modern-day Cinderella's castle, all gold and glowing and with that fairy-godmother wand.

Wow, excellent! I just love these instances of serendipity! And the interesting thing is that I never pictured you living in a high-rise with this as a view. :-)

Let me understand - you no longer live her right? looking at your other photos I understood you lived in a more rural seaside area

I now understand that you could "afford" to release two window photos already yesterday!!

B&w or colour discussion: My answer for this one would clearly be in favour of colours. They are amazing (but as you say - natural)!!

This must be your fabulous city pied a terre, right? Fabulous light - it's amazing thinking of the spectrum of colour in Sydney light - this gold, and that pink I once had....

Incredible colours, Natalie. Thanks for leaving a comment ages ago...no the uniforms were very daggy in my day, and girls were NOT allowed to wear shorts...unheard of!

Light and the sky sometimes do amazing things to buildings. I've not stayed at the hotel, but I'm sure it's a good one.

What a beautiful color combination! What is the original color of the building anyway?

Le décor pourrait être celui d'un film de science-fiction.

Nathalie: thanks, as ever, for visiting me. And for the lovely words. You are very special too, my friend.

Stunning photo. This kind of photo (with heavy-rain-clouds in the background and sun in foreground) belong to my absolutely favourites photos.

My best CIAO to Edwin too !!!

What a beautiful, vivid shot. I love best the ones we don't have to "tamper" with. :)

Turned out perfect!

Love the gold colour. And the building is nice. There's your magic wand. It really works!!

The lighting is outstanding in this photo. As is often the case, lighting is what I think makes for a great photo ... Your magic wand link was funny as well.

Crikey!

I had to get to the ninth page of the portal to find this beauty. The composition, diagonals, patterns and saturated colour make it a winner!

Nathalie, I love the strong shadows of the stairways and the golden color and the dramatic sky (yellow and gray is a fave color combination of mine). Very fine crystal clear view. I love it.

Oh Nathalie, you have a way with lines, patters and simple contrasting colors. I believe this is the main reason I come here often and of course for your wonderful over-sharings. I enjoyed your entry on Black People on the Red Earth Flag; it is good to know.
