Purple Rain

Posted by Picasa
If you are following Sally's blog you will already have seen jacarandas here and there but the time I personally like best is the end of the season, when flowers start falling to the ground en masse. The resulting purple carpet is so vivid it feels like a magic carpet to me: I can just sit there and dream! Here in front of the Modern Art Museum, whose golden sandstone art deco façade you can see in the background.

amazing photos, and beautiful colors, I especially like the second one shot from top with a guy among the trees...lovely and pity we don't have that in HK :-)

Start planting Lisi, these trees originally come from Brasil and south america so hopefully they could adapt to your climate too.
They blossom better if the climate is a little bit dry than if the rainy season is very wet...

So beautiful. I don't think I've ever seen one in person.

Great! I like top one and bottom one in different reason. you know, when you have very little wind, the flowers falling and wind catch them to carry away. It remind me Japanese "Hanami party" under the cherry trees.

magic purple trees... like a tale. Here, there are some similar trees, i've never seen a lot of purple flowers in one tree, they are called "jacarandá"

Thank you for telling me about these decorative photos today in your blog. I think nobody ever get tired of these flowers.
Under blooming jacaranda trees,
we are dreaming choko and cream . . . no,no :) Can you continue
with a good rhyme and more romantic?

Nathalie: I really like the second photo (as Lisi said, amazing photo). To me, the perspective of the second photo works well and the human element makes it a complete story. Awesome.

Superbe. La période des Jacarandas est magnifique, surtout vers la fin en effet. J'avais repere par hasard une petite rue a Kirribilli pres d'un yacht club, completement tapissee de petales jacarandesques, ce qui lui donnait une atmosphere surreelle.

Bellissime queste foto!
Che ambiente stupendo!
Ciao!!

Nicolas, yes I know this row of jacarandas you are talking about in Kirribilli. I saw it last week and it was a splended sight... but aaaargh, I didn't have my camera with me!
Thanks all for your visit and comments.
