Makeover

nnn
During the Easter holidays many Sydneysiders will take their kids to Luna Park. This amusement park located right at the foot of the Sydney Harbour Bridge is also very popular with tourists. Did any of you take some pictures of the friendly giant at the gate? If so, they are history now. He has undergone a makeover: his blue eyes have turned to green! The top picture is before (taken a month ago), underneath is after (taken last week). Do you like it? I'm not convinced. Is that a proof of my resistance to change?

"Is that a proof of my resistance to change?"
Normally I would answer "yes", since you are French and we all know how you originally felt about the Louvre Pyramid by IM Pei ;-),but in this case I side with you. If he's supposed to be a friendly giant, I vote for blue eyes. The green ones spook me a bit...

Just For Fun!!!

It's always been a pretty scary face I think. Not sure about the makeover. Hmm.

I seem to remember a former post of yours or Sally's about that park, and it looked somewhat menacing to me then, too. What big eyes!!

green eyes? but why? i agree with sally. now it's scarier than it was prior to the makeover. ooh..

I agree...they are hideous!!! What an awful change. Mind you, it's good to see the legendary Luna Park open...I thought it was closed for sometime.

I think he looks a bit like a monster with his eyes like that. Change is not always good.

What is he jealous of? It's an awful move. Hopefully the owners will see the error of their ways, and return him to a blue eyed beauty.

Perhaps another example of the Tombstone Syndrome, Nathalie? Those who've done much of value often want to feel they've achieved something, even if it's only making a bad change to the status quo. That's how we run Education Departments in NSW --- although there we actually make a blue.

It the statue a male or female? If the latter then changing eye color seems normal as the ladies do that quite often. If it is male then blue seems better suited. I have no idea what this is except what I have read so it might be best with "normal" eyes -- whatever that is.

I think it's scarier with green eyes!

Isabella, you show a profound understanding of the French psyche!
But in this instance I just believe the green eyes are unnecessarily spooky.

And it looks like many of you share my views...

i much prefer the blue eyes one- that green eyes do not work for me

Blue eyes were far better. Those green eyes no longer look natural. Seems to me they'll frighten some kids...

Eeeuuw, the blue eyes were MUCH better. I don't like the green at all. I have really fond memories of Luna Park though.
