Fog this morning

Heavy fog over Sydney Harbour this morning, your faithful reporter was there. The bottom shots were taken around 8 am when the fog was so thick there was nothing much to see, the top one much later when it had almost cleared up. All ferry services were suspended until 9 am, think of the mess for the thousands of commuters who use the ferry every day. What you're missing here is the sound, the fog horn mooing at the foot of the bridge - eerie!

Wonderfully atmospheric shots Nathalie.

Oh I like your foggy pictures. They are so real. Next to driving an automobile in heavy fog, the worst thing I remember is riding on a ship in the fog and the fog horn blowing every few minutes. It is really wild.

The fog comes. on little cat feet. It sits looking. over harbor and city. on silent haunches. and then moves on. ...

Love the one with the palm trees. It's photo competition winner seed. Indeed.

Sandburg's poem is wonderful, but the description of the fog is more subtle, never once mentioning the word cat (former English teacher speaking!)
" The yellow fog that rubs its back upon the window-panes,
The yellow smoke that rubs its muzzle on the window-panes
Licked its tongue into the corners of the evening,
Lingered upon the pools that stand in drains,
Let fall upon its back the soot that falls from chimneys,
Slipped by the terrace, made a sudden leap,
And seeing that it was a soft October night,
Curled once about the house, and fell asleep.

Your photo is true "art" and a wonderful illustration of the above lines!

OOPS! I got so excited to be talking about poetry again that I forgot to mention that the excerpt I just added re. fog is for T.S.Eliot's "The Love Song of J. Alfred Prufrock"

Je déteste le brouillard. Il est si gris, si froid si inpénétrable. Mais ça fait de belles photos.

We get fog in the San Francisco Bay too but this is amazing. The photos are poetry.

This could be a shot of the East Bay Bridge on the Embarcadero. We usually have heavy fog in June and July but it's arrived a month early this year.
