Celebrating 300 posts!

Today I invite you to share in the celebration of 300 daily posts about one of the most celebrated cities in the world. An exceptional location around stunning beaches and a protected harbour, a mild subtropical climate, friendly people and a relaxed lifestyle, it's hard not to fall in love with Sydney. Because today is another rainy day, I pulled out photo from the vault. Very much a cliché I agree, but how can I celebrate this city without showing off once again one of the true architectural wonders of this world, the Opera House?
Using 300 posts as a significant landmark, I have decided that today I will quit daily posting - too time consuming, and I'm sure all of you who have embarked on a daily photo commitment can relate to that. SDS is not closing down, you will still be getting seven photos a week, but instead of daily they will come in groups, probably three or four at a time.
I would like to take this opportunity to thank all of you for your continued support and appreciation. Being part of the city DP community has been such a rewarding (and somewhat addictive) experience that's been really hard to decide to give up. But stay tuned, the adventure isn't over yet - next post on Thursday.

Nathalie, I really understand the time it takes to blog daily. I'm glad you are not quitting completely. Your pictures and information are too good. Looking forward to seeing your work when you can do it.

Hi Natalie,

Congrats! I really know how you feel with the time involved, it just gets sucked away!

I'll still be checking your shots, whether daily posts or not.

Thanks for 300 amazing captures of a city I only visited briefly, but love and hope to return to one day...

All the best,

Bluey!

Nathalie, your posting today, is a timely reminder to us all that there's a real human, with the same limited hours we all enjoy, putting in an extraordinary effort, behind these wonderful blogs. I am, all at once, disappointed and enthused to learn that in spite of the encroachment on your spare time that you are still prepared to maintain this wonderful insight into Australian daily life.

congratulations on your 300th post!

i agree that it is time consuming but i'm glad you're not quitting in posting your photos, i love your photos the stories that goes with each picture

Marcin said...

That's a pity. But fortunately you don't close your blog definitly. We'll be waiting for your photos.
Congratulation yours300 posts.

It is a time consuming business & I wish I could spend more time visiting every site & leave a message. I've always looked at your & Sally's site, as I too love Sydney. Wish I could live there.

All the best.

Easing off? Hope you'll forgive me, Nathalie, for once agin not being enthusiastic about something? Best wishes.

Cergie said...

Congrats on the 300 posts. It's not at all difficult to understand the time issue. I'm glad that you'll continue to blog, if not in the "daily photo" format.

Hi Natalie,

A few things...
- Congrats on the 300th post.
- I love today's pic. I climb it before and I am so glad I did!
- Wont you consider for another 65 days? that'll make it 1 year!
- Did Edwin influence you? Hmmm...

Eh bien, bravo!

Olivier said...

Thanks for all of the nice photography and for the excellent photographs. You are a special person and I have enjoyed visiting with you and really liked it when you took the time to visit me and my blog and leave kind and generous comments. I will miss you and hope to see what you are up too in future posts.

Congratulations on the 300 posts you have made. It is a big job to post that many times and those who do it have a kind of love/hate relationship going on with what they do and who they are. You are special.

Sally said...

Congratualtions on thee 300th! Makes my milestone pic have more relevance for today.

And looking forward to all your futures!

Congratulations Nathalie! I do understand your decision and I'm going to miss your great pictures. All the best to you.

I have been blogging only for a relatively short time, but yours was one of the first I started to visit. What I saw and could read was a source of inspiration to try to do something on my side, but now I'am also asking myself the same question about the "daily issue".

I believe your decision is very wise; blog when you feel like it and when you have the time! It must stay a pleasure and not as a pressure!

Anyhow... Congratulations and I will be back checking your blog, whether there is something new or not!

julia said...

300 inventive episodes, thanks, true, blogging is too time consuming to fully explore CDP, and you translating as well. A different photoless blog could be a good move because you always come up with a good story line. (far out, a minor point is that it was not my house under the gum tree, the title I used was incorrectly put. Also I will Amazon that book title.

Maxime said...

Congratulations! 300 posts is an amazing achievement. Yes we all know how time consuming blogging is. But I'm glad that SDS isn't closing down altogether.

However I understand you and each your post we'll be the most welcomed even if not daily.

Tu es une très belle personne.

Ah, as usual, sadness mixed with joy. Joy at seeing your 300th post and the pleasure of viewing it (even if you think it's a cliche--I don't!) and sadness that it won't be a regular visit. But, look forward to your occasional posts. You have given me much pleasure with your photos, informative narrative, and comments on my posts. A peek into your family (lovely daughter now in France) has also been a joy. Thank you!

Congratulations Nathalie.
I will miss your daily posts but I'm glad you will still post few sometimes.
I understand it takes time, that's one of the reason I have not started one.

Thank you Nathalie.

Jilly said...

Many congratulations on your 300th post. Your blog is one of my favourites - we not only get to know the beautiful city of Sydney, but you! Your personality and your integrity and views on life come thru. I love that.

Glad to know you'll still be posting 7 photos per week even if not each day and I look forward to visiting you on a regular basis.

I identify with the time problems. For me, the posting is not so much the issue as the Commenting. I love commenting on other people's blogs and I love it when people comment on mine, but that takes up an awful lot of time too.

Again, Happy 300 days!

Salut Nathalie,

Nathalie your photo is wonderful, but the preceding 299 have also been pretty special too. A DP blog is time-consuming-not so much adding a photo to the site every day, but trying to give daily encouragement/comment to the rapidly expanding community is the hardest part.
All the best to you from your friends in Minneapolis!

Happy 300th post!

I completely understand how posting daily would be difficult; frankly, I'm in awe of all the daily photobloggers. Most of the time I'm lucky if I can manage to post in my non-daily non-photoblog a couple of times a week.

Glad you are sticking with the blog and since there isn't much chance I'll get to see Syndey in person, I'll be sure to visit you here again.
