Checking out the surf

Last weekend's storm left behind some pretty big waves so as soon as the bad weather abated, surfers were out there scouting the best spots. Four guys and a gal came here for an expert assessment. Warning, waves here may appear closer than they are: these guys were perfectly safe where they were.

The surf is gorgeous; the bodies of the surfers aren't bad either.

Gorgeous waves and nice composition, but not too good for surfing. Anyway they are braver than I am.

A little bit different atmosphere than in my todays "water or shore" photo:)
I can not imagine power, what those waves have. Photos are brilliant!

Nice waves to look at. I would not want to be on a board trying to ride one though. I can imagine it from the eyes and minds of the "immortals" like the five young people you show. Wow.

I have 1 baby raccoon today and a pile of poop!

Cabacurl, this is great news! I hope I'll get to see the ATC's you and Sally will exchange.

Bergson, hilarious comparison with the 4 Dalton brothers + Ma Dalton!

Cergie, yes a few people each year are swept out at sea by rogue wave, it's something I always think about too. But in this particular case they were really safe...

Peter, no, they occasionally surf off the rocks here but not on this occasion !!!!
They still went surfing but in a less dangerous spot!

Awesome!
I have to admit, we have nothing like that in the Gulf of Mexico...except during hurricanes, of course! But then, surfing is the last thing on your mind ;-)

This is an exceptional shot. It needs to be entered in a contest somewhere :)

I just looked back through some of your posts I missed. I didn't know you had a flood. I'm glad your house wasn't flooded too.

Beautiful! I find waves endlessly fascinating.

This is a great photo Nathalie. Unusual as well. I might crop it top and or bottom to accentuate the longitudinal composition, but that's a personal preference. I'd probably also do it in B+W of course ;)
