Do not trust this man

Do you think this guy has a lovely smile? Don't be fooled, he's a nasty ;-)
He's a City Ranger and he's the one who will write you a ticket if you park in the wrong spot!

I can tell he's very serious about his job!

Merci.

It is very curious to see some connection with eggplant! I was photographing and completely forgot and got a parking fine; I told the council I was really publicising the city! will see if that is good enough excuse.

Don't you accept it more easily if you are fined with a nice smile?

I guess he must just have started his day. These people are not always smiling, I guess being fed up with all people who shout at them with more or less valid arguments.

Did he notice you taking this photo?

Julia, I wish you luck, none of the good excuses that might work in France have ever been any good here - as far as I know.

Peter, Irina, it was lunch time and he was actually chatting with a female collegue when I caught the two of them waiting to cross the street(see the little red man?) I suspect he saw me taking the picture, but he didn't look angry!!! I think he was saying to her "don't turn around, we are being photographed..."

Julia, the connection with eggplant is that in France, the city rangers counterparts who issue parking fines, used to wear a maroon coloured uniform and therefore were nicknamed 'aubergines'. Their uniform was later changed to a lavender blue hence their current nickname of 'periwinkles'. French humour...

He's just so happy to see one more potential victim! :)

When I see your picture without reading your comment, I thougt it was somebody who help if you want to cross the street.
One thing is good, with his fluo jacket you can't miss him, if he near.
No surprise if you have a ticket...or you have to go changing your glasses.

Spoken like you have had the experience.
He has a sly smile. I won't be fooled by him.

I am glad you weren't one of his "victims" !

Here in Sydney they used to wear a brown uniform and be called "Brown Bombers".

i think now they are called "Grey Ghosts" for the grey uniform!

At least this fellow will not clamp your tires as they do in La Antigua.

Perhaps he could be replaced with a Committee of Public safety, Nathalie? On the other hand, I have to confess I'd rather have the occasional fine BY one of them, than face, dasy after day, having to BE one of them, and deal with motorists deprived of their presumed God given right to do as they please, happily burning up non-renewable resources, polluting the planet even faster, and avoiding public transport by like the plague?
