No ice cream? That's annoying!

Today 1st February is a Theme Day for city bloggers around the world and this time the theme is What annoys you most in your city. Well what really annoyed me in Sydney was the day we got such a dreadful heat wave that even the ice-cream truck started to melt. OK it only happened once last year, but I found it sooo annoying not to have access to a refreshing ice-cream when it was so hot! Besides, it was really disgusting to see all that plastic and ice-cream melting together on the beach; yuk! And it took weeks before the council finally removed the mess!

OK, OK, you guessed that this installation was part of Sculpture by the Sea? What you're still missing here is the sound: the heat-distorted music of the ice cream truck - hilarious!

i was only talking about this yesterday. i didnt take a pic as there were too many people around for the shot i wanted (much to the annoyment of pod!). but this is great. what is she wearing? looks like she has escaped from somewhere!

All right Pod I have to confess, it was a polar cold morning and that poor lady was dressed up like a eskimo with gloves and hood and everything. There couldn't have been a worse day to make believe that it was warm . To think that the sculpture was called HEAT WAVE was just hilarious on that particular day LOL !!!

Now thats funny. Fantastic sculpture.

Gé-nial ! J'adore. One day we should make a piece of art theme day. That could be cool.

We had a heatwave in NYC last summer. It shotted out the underground wiring in my neighborhood and we had no electricity for 7 days. I had to go spend the night at a friend's place because my apartment was like an oven. Businesses lost a lot of money because all their ice cream and other perishable goods had to be thrown out.

Cool picture, BTW.

Nathalie, thanks for this tickle on the funny bone on a day when we are all complaining! I'm about half way through our world tour of things that bug us, and this was a welcome relief from the big downer I was starting to get. It's a wonderful photo!

hehehe... You made my day. What an awesome photo.

Also, I noticed how polite and diplomatic you're about your host city: Sydney. For sure there's gotta be something you dislike about it. ;-)

I'd be annoyed too! J'adore!

I went through the blogs quickly this morning and I laughed so much at the photo but did not think it such a thing could not happen. At lunch I was discussing the fact most of us say the same things about our cities - the house prices, construction, pollution etc.
Got a call this evening and was told to read the whole blog write up.
You should have saved this for April Fool's Day.
Great photo.

I'm still making my way through the DP theme day posts and you by far win the prize for hilarity! I read this (the first part), looked at the photo and said "you have GOT to be kidding me, what was the sun on TOP of them?". You made me laugh, and I love the sculpture! Nice job on the theme :)
