Australia Day!

Bradleys head

The 26th of January, Australia Day, is with 26th December (start of the Sydney to Hobart race) one of the two days when everything that floats meets in Sydney Harbour. This morning, the big event was the ferry parade: It was followed by hundreds of boats and thousands of spectactors massed along the shores. I viewed it from Bradley's Head, a spectacular vantage point. You're invited to come and share the fun with me!

Sorry-I read your post wrong. Indeed, you did make the distinction between the two races! Sorry and happy day in the land of Oz.

Not easy to be enthusiatic about Australia Day when the NSW Minister for Education goes on the radio specifically to talk about Australian History, then:
1] Gets the date of Australia Day wrong.
2] When given the correct date, the 26th of January, gets the details of the day wrong.
3] After her Office finds the correct details, rings back and reads her prepared statement.

I didn't hear her 3rd attempt, but I hope [with the help of her bureaucracy] it might have been correct. So what can we assume Australia Day DOES mean nowadays?

And you do it so well. I was there in 1986, on the top floor of the IBM building. It was spectacular.
