La Vie En Rose

Are you familiar with Edith Piaf's songs ? La vie en rose? Non, je ne regrette rien? Last Wednesday the Alliance Française de Sydney organised a Love song evening. Sylvie (here at left) was a very passionate singer, the violonist and guitarist were excellent too. Many of us found themselves singing along to those all-time favourites. Another highlight of the evening was the prize ceremony for the Love Letter contest that had been launched on Valentine's day. My good friends Emmanuelle and Jeremy (she a French girl and he an Australian) both won a prize for the letter they had written to each other, isn't that sweet ?
Now treat yourself to a beauty:
listen to Edith Piaf's original song La vie en rose ! (1954)

that is a sweet story - I have this song on my iPod - its such a beautiful song!!! Its from the movie Sabrina??? hmm I dunno but thats how I learned of the song - lovely post!

BTW, the camera I use is a Cnon S3 LS - its a great camera but kinda bulky so not one of those you can squeeze in your pocket unless u have a huge pocket but its got great zoom - I believe any of the canon S series cameras are good for what you need while not as pricey as the SLR cameras. Good luck with your search - go online and you will sure to find a bargain! =)

Hi Nathalie. Computer back with new hard drive, and this time an additional external hard drive for saving stuff...we lost everything! Been busy reinstalling things, and trying to recover photos from websites where published as journals etc. A reality check in the fine art of backing up!

It's very nice that you have the French Alliance there so you can get together with your compatriots. Congrats to your friends for their letters.

What's this that Jilly wrote about the best new Australian photoblog??

Thank you for the Edith Piaf song, how wonderful to listen to it today. I'm glad you're feeling better and that you had a fun birthday.

Mme. Piaf was a major force in Quebec's cultural scene when I was growing up. What a gift!

I found your link on Susan's site. It's very nice to meet you, and I look forward to reading more.

Bonne fete!

So glad you all sang along!
Yes, there is a movie about the life of Edith Piaf currently being released, I understand it's about the dark side of her life...

And yes Alice it would have been lovely to have the love letters read out loud to us, or displayed, but they remained hidden - that was a disappointment!

Kala thanks for the info, I'm making progress in my search I think!

Sally, good to see you back on tracks and I'll think about saving my photos, which I haven't done so far!

Hi Nathalie, I am the singer of the photograph. Yes, Edith Piaf, her songs are so beautiful. And belong to the collective memory of French but also for some of them, to the collective memory of the hearth. I hear your speech however and I hope well in a few months to also sing Barbara, Brel and ...........
Des propositions???
Kind regards
