The weakest link
I've shown you a number of Christmas decorations around the city before, now here's the suburban version. It seems to me that Christmas home decorations and lights have sprouted like mad in the past few years - courtesy of cheap 'made in China' mass production ? Now think of a brutal sun and outside temperatures reaching 30°C (over 90° Fahrenheit). Do you find this tacky or cute? I call it the weakest link!

Oh, yes, so, so familiar! Blond brick and kitschy decorations! Saw the first of those ENORMOUS blow- up plastic things on a house verandah this week - didn't have time to stop for a pic, but am hoping to get back.
Gives me the shudders (though I DO have to admit to a rather twinkly single strand of flashing lights outside chez nous ;-) Some have argued it is the slippery slope!)
Tacky, kitschy whatever you call it, it is indeed. But hey, it's Xmas and it's gaudy time, isn't it?
Not my style but to each his own.
I see what you mean, it would seem so strange to celebrate Christmas with the temperature that high! I never really thought about the southern hemisphere celebrating Christmas in the summer until I found this blog community!
This has almost as much appeal as a recent post I made of a house with (ahem) an overload of decorations. But, I agree, if it makes the homeowners happy...who are we to disagree??!!
Not my style, but to each his own. What I think is funny is that Christmas Down Under uses the snow motif! Why is that?
:)
but the decor looks good via the photo!!
and its a little bit different when seeing this winter figures in the hot summer days!!
but, hope Christmas is happy wherever you are!!

it is kitsh, but the kitsh it is with its charm too. and then it is Christmas he is necessary to be charitable ;O)
they have made an effort. tacky in a smiley way
bon nuit madame!
they made such an effort it's almost admiring =)
Ha. Without the snow that looks really out of season.
Shouldn't Santa's sleigh be drawn by kangaroos and shouldn't the lights around the houses be shaped like koalas or crocs? Some marketer is missing his/her mark!
Kitsch feeds on affluence. Long after Australia becomes a Republic, Nathalie, Kitsch will still be King --- provided we're still affluent.
Enjoy the Xmas trip.
Is it typical decoration in australia?, where does it take influence? it seems that comes from many places...
